An over 50’s social club aimed at tackling loneliness
Slough Town FC Community is thrilled to announce the launch of a brand new initiative with a weekly social club for the over 50’s in the local community. The project becomes the fifth new initiative set up by the club this year and is been inspired by similar successful schemes run by EFL clubs across the country.
With more people working later in life than ever before, the sessions have Benn designed to be accessible to those still in employment. In the UK, 72% of people aged 50-64 are currently in work compared to 57% in the mid-1990’s, while the number of 65 year olds in work has doubled since 2000. To reflect this change in work and life situation , the sessions will run every Tuesday evening from 6-8pm.
The sessions will provide a welcoming, safe and friendly environment where attendees can enjoy a range of activities including games, quizzes, arts & crafts, sport or simply relax and socialise with others. There will be refreshments and a small bar available for everyone to be able to purchase, whereas the attending of the session is free of charge.
The venue for these social meetings will NOT be at Arbour Park and will be held at STOKE PARK ACTIVE TRUST, 225-227 NORTHERN ROAD, SLOUGH SL2 1LU.
The project has been made possible thanks to funding support by the National League Trust and Stoke Park Active for hosting the event. For more information please contact our Community Manager Ade Gomm via email at adrian.gomm@sloughtownfc.com
